Great Point Light 3 LED Book Light Customer Review: LED’s burnt out…
Not happy with this light. Two of my LED lights are burnt out and I haven’t been able to find replacements for them. Hard to direct light. I think the Itty Bitty LED with plug in capability is a better option to eliminate battery use in most use.
Customer Review: Good light on one page, must be farther away to light two pages
Not as annoying as lights some I’ve tried, but not what I hoped for.
The good:
* The LEDs provides a nice white light that covers a page from the four inch length of it’s arm.
* The light output remains consistent over time, and you have two levels to choose from.
* The device is lightweight and compact, making it ideal for travelers who have at some point found themselves on a flight with a burned out light bulb over their seat, unable to read, unwilling to watch that movie, and have vowed to themselves “never again”.
The bad:
* At 4 inches away the device can not light two pages. You’ll either have to strain to read the partially lit opposite page, or move the light to the opposite side as you finish each page, or position the light farther from the pages.
* The batteries are expensive (compared to AAA), and not rechargeable. Silly me, from the picture I guessed it took two AAA. I can only blame myself for not carefully reading the description which clearly says the device takes two CR2450 coin batteries. There is no A/C power option.
A qualified success:
The device will illuminate two pages from a distance of 8 inches (at one quarter the intensity, thanks to those intractable laws of physics.) If I am reading in bed I can rest the light on my chest to get the desired 8 inch distance. I also found I can clip it to the brim of a cap and achieve about 12 inches distance from the page and gain some stability. However, the lighthouse effect really annoys my wife if I unwittingly turn my head in her direction while she is trying to sleep. The hunt for the perfect book light continues.
